Sudbury East Drop In Centre

The program provides life skills, literacy, numeracy, computer skills, socialization, and recreational activities. The catchment area for this program is for the municipality of French River. This program's wellness goal supports Special Olympics events training.

Community Foundations

This program involves a 16 weeks provision of supports, integration and transition to our community youths exiting the school system. Job skills, training, introduction to community resources and employment preparation are the foci of this program.

SHILO

The S.H.I.L.O. program, (Simulated Healthy Independent Living Opportunities) provides a unique opportunity for students to participate in activities that foster functional independence while increasing self-esteem and confidence. This program is in partnership with the Sudbury Developmental Services (Mountain Street), the Children's Treatment Center, and the Jean Hansen School.

In a simulated apartment-type setting, the students learn and practice life skills for independent living such as cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and accessing public transportation. They enjoy community activities that promote independence and community inclusion and they engage in general fitness/wellness activities to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The students benefit from weekly sessions with a Physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist. A Developmental Support Worker supervises the students as they put their skills into practice during an overnight stay.

All individuals served receive a mandatory annualized Individual Support Plan.
